What car tweeters is

Tweeter is a sound device which can produce a very high frequency sound. The frequency would be up to 20 kHz (even for some of them can deliver high frequency up to 30 kHz).

How does tweeters work? The working system is just simple. It contain a voice coil that consist of wire coil. The attached coil to a diaphragm will deliver vibratory motion into the diaphragm. Then diaphragm will vibrate the air and make air motion or waves of audio. We can hear this audio waves as high sounds. The important part is wire coil and dome design. They responsible in producing the sound quality of tweeter. Beside that, there is still another parts such as diaphragm. The diaphragm materials usually made from alumunium, titanium, phenolic impregnated fabric, PET film, Polimida. Each of them has their own characteristic and phroperties.

Car Tweeters-Types

Tweeters can be devided into types, they are cone tweeter, dome tweeter, piezo tweeter, ribbon tweeter, planar-magnetic tweeter, electrostatic tweeter, AMT tweeter, horn tweeter, plasma or ion tweeter, and ring radiator. Each types has their own characteristic, phroperties, advantages, and disadvantages. Cone tweeter is more efficience. But the expanding sound is limited. The ribbon tweeter produce very clear high tones and extended sounds. But the sound deployment is limited, and it is vulnerable to conditions of the weather.

The horn and piezo tweeter is more efficience and the deployment of sound is well directed. But the size of horn/piezo tweeter is rather bigger than others, and the high frequency that produced is not as soft as dome tweeter.

And with Ring radiator tweeter, more efficience, the sound deployment is wide expanded and well directed.
